The vision assistant will be responsible for providing primary eye health services to all those visit to the primary eye health center. Specific responsibilities of vision assistant will include, but not be limited to those listed below.
- Responsible for warm reception and registering all people visiting to the center.
- Responsible for collecting registration charges and cash management.
- Has to screen all persons for any ocular morbidity and will be responsible for vision examination.
- Has to perform anterior segment examination, pinhole examination and do refraction for those improving with pinhole.
- Has to collect orders for spectacles and has to co-ordinate with the hospital to deliver the spectacles.
- Responsible for issuing referral card and maintaining a database on the cases referred.
- Strictly adhere to the clinical protocol and follow the advice of the ophthalmologist while handling the patients.
- Offer first aid services to the necessary injured cases as per the protocol or as advised by the doctor.
- Has to co-ordinate and organize the visit of the ophthalmologist to the center for further examination and prescription confirmation.
- Responsible for giving group and individual counseling to the people depending on their eye condition to create awareness and impart best eye health practices.
vResponsible for sterilization and maintenance of the equipments and instruments.
- Management of medical records and responsible for recording all details at the case sheets.
- Maintain relevant registers and sending regular reports to the project manager.
- Operating the web cam, data entry, report generation, accounts maintenance, stock management in the absence of the vision center co-coordinator.
