Quality:

Quality Assurance

Aravind eye hospital proves that quality the only way to attain the mission within desire future course of time. Unless we assure the quality and make sure it to the public the concept of quality remains a dream. Quality can be assured from the different dimensions; the first dimension is from technical quality that clinical services which patients compares with the visual outcome. Clinical quality comprises of technologies for diagniosis, treatment, research and education. The second availability of new technology, patients have put whole trust on that. They do not know whether the new up coming technology suits for them but they believe, even the health care providers are assuring world class health care quality because the availablity of sophisticated technology. Aravind Eye Hospital is using Aravind Tele-opthalmology Network (ATN) to connect the vision centres and makes the specialist consultation at the rural areas through.

The third one from the functional quality which makes things happen, it comprises of human resources, finance and material management. Even though we provide good infrastructure and new technology at vision centre the quality can be assured only through the well trained personnel, because, para-medical force plays a major role from screening patient at the villages to scrubbing for the surgeries. We cannot accept that misconception that when we find something wrong with quality of services, it is only due to the insincerity or inefficiency of employees working there. Quality can be achieved only through well trained staff.

This functional quality level quality perceived by the patients based on the staff behaviour, cleanliness, aminities, perceived value for their payment. The clinical quality can be measured by implementing the above metioned method, functional qulaity also cab be measured by comparing to other eye care provider and getting the feed back, complaints, suggestion, and through structured interaction with the patients.

Practicing the above methods, Aravind has removed the misconceptions of quality can be achieved only through strict inspection and control and quality can be achieved only investing high cost and assuring the quality is difficult in the high volume.
