Eye care encompasses various types of human resources which can be broadly classified as Medical, Paramedical, Administrative and supportive services.

MEDICAL:

Medical people are the ophthalmologist those who are trained to diagnose and treat eye diseases and conditions with medications and surgery.



PARAMEDICAL

Para medicals are the Optometrist / refractionist - those who do the initial evaluations, Visual Acuity, refraction etc , Ophthalmic nurses / Assistants - assist the doctors and involves in all type of clinical supportive services of Out patient Department, Ward and Theatre, Lab Technicians -Do all Microbiological and Biochemistry tests. E.g. Blood group investigation, urine sugar test, serology test etc. Medical Record Technician Takes care of registration and management of medical records. Counselors Help the patients to understand regarding eye diseases and guide them in decision making.



ADMINISTRATIVE

Administrative Services takes care of overall administration. It comprises Human Resource Manager Takes care of personnel department functions like attendance maintenance, salary issuing etc and human resource development process right from recruitment to employee welfare activities, Finance and Accounts manager Managing financial resources, Finance Planning, Budgeting and day to day accounts maintenance etc. Materials manager - Provides a range of services to make effectives use of materials that is to minimize the investment and make effective use of materials to maximize the profit



SUPPORTIVE SERVICES

Supportive Services department encompasses House Keeping personnel Maintains hospital neat and clean, Instrument Technicians Maintenance of equipments, Opticians Manufactures spectacles, Community Out reach programme organizer Takes care of community programmes e.g. conducting eye care awareness camps, school screening camps etc., Electrician, Security, and transport staffs as if required.



The staff strength requirement and allocation of job may differ hospital to hospital depending upon the work load and efficiency.
