E-learning is a fast developing new aspect of education that has centered the attention of nearly every training sector due to the many benefits it can provide for both teachers and students. The subject of e-learning in ophthalmology is first brought up in 1975 by Cuendet JF et al.

- INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF OPHTHALMOLOGY - E-LEARNING
The development and availability of technology can revolutionize ophthalmic education, helping teachers and students connect efficiently and economically. The Committee on Technologies for Teaching & Learning Continuing Professional Development seeks to explore new and emerging technologies for ophthalmic education and provide technical guidance for online courses and other learning experiences. This website includes resources for you to use as well as teaches you how to become more effective in teaching and training.
- INTERACTIVE E-LEARNING FOR OPHTHALMOLOGISTS
Eye-Site provides a high-quality e-learning resource for trainee ophthalmologists and qualified staff alike. The programme, which is mapped to key elements of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists' training curriculum, covers topics such as clinical assessment, refraction, laser surgery and microsurgery. It includes a host of interactive features, such as images, video clips and animations.
- CLINICAL OPHTHALMOLOGY (ONLINE DISTANCE LEARNING)
This new two year part-time Masters programme, taught entirely online, is jointly offered by the University of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and leads to the degree of Master of Surgery (ChM). It has been developed with the support of NHS Education for Scotland (NES). The ChM is designed to support advanced ophthalmology trainees in the UK and internationally through a curriculum which recognises their subspecialist ophthalmic interests in preparation for exit examination and hospital-based practice.
- MOC STUDY RECOURCES
The Academy has resources to help you meet MOC requirements, earn CME credits and prepare for the MOC examinations. Products are based on the Practicing Ophthalmologists Curriculum (POC) a knowledge base of information developed by teams of practicing ophthalmologists, who are members of the Academy. The POC comprises the most clinically relevant information that practicing ophthalmologists in each subspecialty need to know to remain current in their practices. The POC is based on the MOC Content Outline and organized by practice emphasis area. All Academy MOC Essentials products are based on the POC. View the POC topics in each area.
- ONE NETWORK ACCESS
The ONE Network is the Academy's global platform for ophthalmic education. Access to the ONE Network is included in international membership in the Academy. In addition to Academy membership, the ONE Network is available globally through partnering societies and organizations and to all ophthalmologists in developing nations.

Cybersight is a telehealth and education program focused on increasing the capacity of human resources in eye health through expert mentoring, patient care collaboration and mobile learning. The site has resources for ophthalmologists.
- EYE RESOURCES ON THE INTERNET
This site was compiled on behalf of the Association of Vision Science Librarians and is maintained by Trish Duffel at the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. This site contains a list of all online resources for ophthalmology.
- MEDSCAPE OPHTHALMOLOGY EDUCATION
This website offers free Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities online - including clinical briefs and case reports.
- THE OPHTHALMOLOGY MINUTE
The Ophthalmology Minute is a series of informal discussions dealing with a wide variety of eye health issues. They will be divided according to the subspecialties in ophthalmology; strabismus, pediatric ophthalmology, retina, cornea and external disease, etc. These mini-lectures are specially prepared for this web page and for delivery via the internet. There will be variations in the format, but each lecture will be designed to address a specific topic, and provide useful information for the ophthalmologist or allied eye health care worker. In addition, links to other valuable sources of information are provided.

The online Optometric Technician program is taught completely online. You will not be required to come to the Madison campus. Online program courses are designed for individuals already employed in an eye care office.

- INTERNATIONAL CORE CURRICULUM FOR OPHTHALMIC ASSISTANTS
The International Core Curriculum for Ophthalmic Assistants from the ICO includes performance objectives and content in 5 core competency areas. It is designed for office-based, on-the-job training but can be useful as examples for all trainers.

Eye Learning Online is an online learning program designed to teach ophthalmic and clinical knowledge to new and existing ophthalmic staff. No prior medical or ophthalmic knowledge is required. This makes our courses suitable for any audience, for example, health professionals who wish to work as an ophthalmic assistant or administrative staff members who wish to enhance their ophthalmic knowledge.

Aurosiksha is an online e-learning portal that provides learning resources for ophthalmic assistants. The resources will enhance the practical and theoretical knowledge of Ophthalmic Assistants. It will also provide a package of materials for the tutors to enrich the tutoring skills in the field of ophthalmic assisting training.
- NURSING EDUCATION - CYBER SIGHT
Cybersight is a telehealth and education program focused on increasing the capacity of human resources in eye health through expert mentoring, patient care collaboration and mobile learning. The Cybersight online platform provides opportunities for discovery, connection and innovation to a global community of eye health professionals through expert mentoring, patient care collaboration and mobile learning. CyberSight is an online resource centre developed by Project Orbis International. Nursing resources can now be found on Cyber-Sight – with links to websites and documents which may be useful in ophthalmic nursing training.
